About this game

This game is a server option for World of Warcraft announced at BlizzCon in 2017. This game was developed with the goal of letting the players experience World of Warcraft the way it was before The Burning Crusade, the first WoW expansion pack.  

• Players can choose from the 8 original races of World of Warcraft: humans, dwarves, gnomes, and night elves for the Alliance, and orcs, trolls, tauren, and the Forsaken of the horde.
• The original classes are present as well: druid, hunter, mage, paladin, priest, rogue, shaman, warlock, and warrior.
• The environment in this game is restored to what it was pre-Cataclysm so areas such as Outland are not accessible.

Blizzard delivered on exactly what it was supposed to, and WoW Classic is, in that regard, perfect. That doesn’t mean it’s the perfect game – just that it’s a perfect game for a specific group of people, and maybe a very good game for those who will come after. Frankly, it’s remarkable that something so inherently offensive to modern-day MMORPG sensibilities has the audaciousness to be this incredible.

Yes. Vanilla World of Warcraft changed the gaming landscape. It’s a piece of our hobby’s history. And just like how many of us would hop in a time machine to experience something like the dawn of the dinosaurs, so should you experience exactly why this game had the impact it did.
